Studying, sleeping, eating and more studying

Hello friends!

It's been a while since last writings.. Sorry for that. Life is full of excuses but this time I might have had a reason (didn't say a good reason) for delay. As I have said earlier, the structure of this semester is in three week-long intensive modules and after each module we'll have some time to write an essay of the topic. Now, after two modules, I can really feel that something is happening, or at least should be. A few last weeks has been one of the most stressful weeks in my life with reading, writing, analyzing, criticizing and hopefully some learning about experiential learning and outdoor education. But now I have really got the feeling that we are not in Vierumäki anymore..

Few words about the modules. 1st module, Critical Perspectives of Outdoor Education didn't really work for me. Random lectures, overnight field trip and very academic essay requirements made even the native English speakers to struggle. The "structure" of the module was just nonsense. There you go and try to fart a 4500 words essay from a huge reading list.. Luckily the head professor is finally helpful to get the essay started and now everything is up to ourselves.

2nd module instead was the opposite. Good lectures got me thinking, some examples (maybe not the best ones) of experiential education and most importantly good food in the restaurant of Brathay outdoor center. So at the moment we have two essays under work and next week there will be third one. Actually next weeks module is quite interesting with its lecturers from UK, Germany, Norway, New Zealand and Australia, so we really are getting international!
Discussion about theories, theorists, educators, philosophers and that sort of stuff..

Last time we have seen the sun - week ago?

Let's take the small group discussion outdoors!?

Luckily there has been some moments to take a little time off and relax. A couple of weeks ago got visitors when Essi, Mike, Laz and Clare got a touch from my Ambleside life. Good times! Also I got a chance to  work at a farm to split and pile wood - perfect workout without thinking anything. Of course I have to say thank you for my private cooks in Fairfield hall C floor: so thank you for multiple dinners Sheena, Oksana and Hanne!

Loughrigg fell.

Jeh, about the weather.. It is extremely rare to have the same kind of weather for more than 30 min. Doesn't matter if its rainy or not but it will change, and fast. So the area of the Lake District is better known as the Rain District.

Tomorrow I will have one more special guest but more of that next time. ;) Later there will also be a selection of TEOS (our group) got TALENT, so stay tuned!! I promise it will be good stuff, this study group is such a wide range of more or less crazy but awesome people around the world!
